Command An Army Beginner Guide: First Day Checklist
Command An Army drops you into a medieval battlefield with an army at your back. You fight as one soldier, but most matches are won by the orders you give your troops, not by your own sword. This checklist covers the first day.
1. Play through the tutorial
The tutorial hands you a squad of Knights and has you break down a gate, then teaches the four orders:
- Follow (C on PC): troops trail behind you.
- Hold (X): troops stop and defend the spot. The tutorial tests this with an incoming enemy push.
- Attack: aim at an enemy or a structure and your troops engage it.
- Rush: a charge on a cooldown that hits hard on contact.
Everything else in the game builds on these. The commands and formations page goes deeper.
2. Claim your starter troops
After the tutorial you claim starter troops from Mercenary, Shieldman, Spearman and Archer, all 1-star units. Pick for roles rather than looks: a Shieldman to take arrows, an Archer for range and a Spearman to stop cavalry is a sensible first army. All four have evolution paths later (evolution).
3. Redeem codes, then summon
Open the Code button on the right side of the screen and enter the five active codes on the codes page. Together they give 3,200 Gems, which is 64 pulls on the Standard Banner at 50 Gems each.
The banner odds are 18.88% for each starter unit, 20% for Scout Rider, 4% for Crossbowman and 0.06-0.19% for the four 4-star units. After summoning, press Equip Best on the units screen, then check the result: it can field three melee units and no ranged support. Full odds and pity are on the summons page.
4. Know your star limit
Every unit costs as many stars as its rarity, and your equipped army has to fit under your star limit. MimoBlox started launch day with a limit of 5, enough for a Crossbowman (3) and a Scout Rider (2). The limit rises as your account levels, and the fourth unit slot opens at level 15. Details on the star limit page.
5. Play for the points, not the kills
When you join, you choose to attack or defend. Attackers push through Capture Point A, then Point B, then into the base before the timer runs out; defenders hold. Wins pay Gems and XP, and even a loss pays something if you do well. Our attack and defense guide covers both sides.
6. Do the quests every day
The quest panel on the right side of the lobby has daily and weekly quests (one weekly quest asks you to defeat 500 enemies). Quests give XP and Gems and are the steadiest way to level up, which in turn raises your star limit.
7. Pick a class you can live with
Your class (Assassin, Sword & Shield or Hammer) only changes how your own character fights. Sword & Shield is the safest start because you can block; changing class later costs 50 Gems, the same as a summon. See classes.
8. Your horse
You can ride a horse in the lobby and in matches. When its stamina runs out, dismount and dash, because your own stamina is separate, then remount. Horse skins are rolled with Robux and are cosmetic.
Mistakes to avoid
- Deleting duplicates. Two copies merge into a stronger unit through Ascension for free.
- Leaving troops on Hold. If you walk to the next point without pressing Follow, your army stays behind.
- Rushing a ready shield wall. Charge when the enemy is already fighting your teammates.
- Paying to skip the spin. The 100 Robux skip only saves time; it does not change what you pull.
What to aim for next
Level a unit to 20 to evolve it, check the tier list to see which pulls to hope for, and keep an eye on the update log: Update 2 on September 19 adds Guilds and Mongol units.
